Abdominoplasty

Also referred to as a “tummy tuck”, this procedure helps when exercise and diet have reduced your weight, but stubborn fat remains around your middle and lower stomach area. It can also be a part of the Mummy Makeover process, a modern procedure with mum’s wanting to return to their pre-baby shape after pregnancy. It can often incorporate liposuction.

Tummy tucks involve the tightening of the abdominal muscles, and removal of any excess skin that has resulted from major weight loss or pregnancy.  It is important to understand that Tummy Tucks are most effective on relatively healthy non-smoking patients and is not a weight loss technique.

Liposuction

Most people have heard of liposuction, with both men and women choosing this technique to help them shift excess body fat in areas such as the tummy, thighs, buttocks, hips, chin, neck and upper arms.

Liposuction is used when exercise has not been successful in toning specific areas, and the long-term benefits of this procedure do depend on factors including lifestyle and weight. For optimum results, you will be encouraged to ensure you eat healthily and exercise regularly.

The Scenarios in Life That Can Prompt Cosmetic Surgery

Plastic Surgery

When people tend to decide to get Cosmetic Surgery  done?

Plastic SurgeryWith 1.5 million cosmetic procedures were performed last year, it can be easy to overlook that each one of those procedures started with a decision by someone to undergo a cosmetic procedure. Well, what inspired that decision? People get cosmetic surgery for a wide variety of reasons, and that decision shouldn’t be entered into lightly, but here are a few of the more common ones.

Post-Pregnancy

When bringing a baby to term, the body goes through a lot of changes, and doesn’t always end the journey as svelte as it started. It can be extremely hard to get back in shape after a pregnancy, even with the most stringent diet and exercise regiments. That’s why a lot of new moms get what are called Mommy Makeovers– a package deal that can include breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, and a few other procedures, as the need may arise.

Major Life Changes

There are any number of life changes that might prompt someone to look at cosmetic surgery. On the job hunt again? A facelift to erase wrinkles may help you stand out in a competitive job market. Moving? Could be a chance to reinvent your look to impress new people. Getting married? A little bit of Botoxcould help you look your best for the big day (for men, too!). A big change, no matter what it is, can get the wheels turning and have people reevaluate their lives, and their looks.

“You think I’m HOW old?”

One of the biggest inspirations for cosmetic touchups, naturally, centres around aging. When we age, we don’t usually notice it ourselves, since it’s a gradual process. But the change can be more noticeable to an outside party, and if they don’t know you, they might assume you’re older than you are, or at least how old you feel inside. This kind of thing can, for some, be a wake-up call that their appearance isn’t as youthful as it once was, and some opt for surgery, or less invasive procedures.

No matter what reason you have for getting work done, your first step should be to have a free assessment with our  cosmetic surgeon for your surgical Assessment

Vaser Lipo Vs Laser Lipo

Smart Lipo Vs Vaser

Vaser Lipo Vs Laser Lipo

Ever wondered about the differences between VASER Liposuction (or just VASER Lipo as we call it) and Laser Lipo? Are you thinking of a non-invasive fat removal treatment or liposuction but aren’t sure which procedure to choose? There are lots of procedures and treatments out there claiming to zap fat and banish it forever in some way. It’s hard to know what to believe when you can tell what will work and what is overrated. Vaser Lipo Vs Laser Lipo we look at the comparisons below.

Fat removal procedures come in all shapes and sizes, just like people. It’s quite right that people come in all shapes and sizes – diversity is great – and the same can be said for fat removal procedures. You have non-invasive, minimally invasive and surgical treatments and procedures capable of targeting fat in some way, and it’s important there’s choice for patients. Not all patients will want the same things from their treatment, so it’s good to explore and have a range of options to look at. Below is a guide to one of the biggest discussions we have: VASER Lipo vs. Laser Lipo.

VASER Lipo

VASER Lipo is often touted at the top end of the fat removal treatment scale for its effectiveness. There’s little doubt it works – you can see the fat after it’s been taken out, and some patients even like to take pictures of the extracted fat. Just look at before and after VASER Lipo shots to see these patients have transformed.

VASER Lipo is minimally invasive, and downtime is minimal compared to traditional liposuction, but there are some downsides. Recovery can be uncomfortable for some patients (effective pain medication is given to managing any discomfort), patients must be relatively close to their target weight and cannot be obese. It’s not a weight loss solution, more of a body sculpting and fat removal procedure so expectations may need to be adjusted. However for the right patients, it can help. It’s popular for a reason.

The body is extraordinarily complicated, and fat distribution is largely determined by genetics. Some people have problem areas around the abdomen and thighs while others have issues with their breasts and flanks (love handles). You can’t spot reduce fat, and even personal trainers can tell you it can be hard to shift fat from stubborn areas. We don’t all have hours and hours each day to train and so many healthy people turn to VASER Lipo to treat permanently their problem areas.

Laser Lipo

Next down the scale in fat removal treatments is often laser lipo. Various generations and machines exist to target fat with lasers; some remove the fat with suction-assisted liposuction while other treatments leave it up to the body to flush the fat away and out through excretion. Laser Lipo is suited to people who want to target small areas and who may not want VASER Lipo or non-invasive fat targeting treatments. Whereas VASER Lipo uses ultrasound to break down the fat cells from the surrounding tissue, Laser uses heat.

Laser Liposuction (Smart Lipo)  is a procedure that helps to melt fat and tighten skin on the face and body. The safety of the Laser Liposuction treatment is well documented. The laser energy melts fat that is then suctioned out of the body via a cannula or eliminated safely through your liver. The laser energy also heats up the collagen fibres under the skin causing the collagen fibres to contract.  This tightening leads to an improvement in loose skin, cellulite and the appearance of stretch marks.

The full effects of the treatment may take up to 3 months as it takes 90 days for collagen fibres to regenerate themselves. You will see continued improvements for up to 12 months.

Laser Liposuction involves the use of a light sedation and most patients usually return to work within 1-2 days.

HOW LIPOSUCTION CAN TRANSFORM YOUR LOOK

Thailand Liposuction

LIPOSUCTION TRANSFORMATION

Are you ready for a mid-winter  makeover? Say goodbye to those love handles and extra inches around your thighs with a liposuction procedure. Meditravel offers several types of body contouring procedures in Sydney and Phuket that can reshape your body and help you achieve a streamlined silhouette. When diet and exercise aren’t enough to slim down your figure, liposuction can help.

At only $1200 per area for Laser Liposuction, here are some ways that liposuction in Sydney can transform your look:

Slims Down the Midsection

If you tend to store fat around your waistline and abdomen, you may still have a few stubborn pockets of fat after weight loss. Losing weight will help you slim down overall, but you will lose fat from all over your body — not a specific area. Liposuction can be very effective for targeting some stubborn pockets of fat around the midsection to create a contoured and balanced look.

Removes Pockets of Fat Around the Thighs

Some women tend to store extra fat around the thighs and those extra inches could be preventing you from wearing certain types of clothing. Balance out your figure by getting liposuction in Sydney on the inner or outer thighs. VASER Lipo is especially effective for targeting smaller areas and is less invasive and traumatic to the body than traditional procedures. We offer VASER Lipo at our Sydney Clinics and may recommend this technique for a thigh reshaping procedure.

Restore Your Youthful Face Shape

Extra fat under the chin or jaw area can add years to your appearance. Our Sydney Surgeons can perform liposuction in Sydney around the jawline to create a sculpted look and restore your youthful contours. Lipo-Selection by VASER allows the surgeons to target the very smaller fatty deposits around the neck and chin without damaging healthy tissues and blood vessels. The technique allows for a faster recovery and healing time. We will share post-operative care instructions during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.

Cosmetic Surgery Myths and Facts

Plastic Surgery Myths

Cosmetic Surgery Myths and Factsmyths-about-plastic-surgery

Our impressions about anything are formed from various sources – what we read, what we see, what we hear. While it is good to take into account all information, it is important to sift through it to come to the facts. The internet is not our holy grail, and all that’s written on it is not the truth. Coming to cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery there are many myths, some of which were facts a long time ago but are no longer true and some are just plain yarns. Let’s look at the top ten myths (IMHO!):

Cosmetic surgery=Plastic surgery

Fact: This is not true. Cosmetic surgery is a specialisation within Plastic surgery. While technically a plastic surgeon can perform cosmetic surgery, a Cosmetic Surgeon is not nearly as well trained and experience as a Plastic surgeon at it. When choosing a cosmetic surgeon or a Plastic Surgeon, look at credentials and board certifications carefully to ensure that you are choosing what you want.

Cosmetic surgery is for only for women

Fact: Not true! More and more men are considering cosmetic surgery or non-surgical cosmetic procedures to enhance their appearance or slow down the effects of aging.

Cosmetic surgery is too expensive

Fact: This one use to be true but not so anymore. It used to be that cosmetic surgery was a luxury afforded by the wealthy elite. With new progress in cosmetic surgery, the cost of cosmetic surgery is decreasing in some cases. Medical tourism offers several cost-effective options with the same excellent results making cosmetic surgery increasingly affordable.

Botox is harmful

Fact: This is misinformation. Botox, when administered by professionals in the purest form, is very safe and has been so for over 25 years. When given correctly it can soften wrinkles and lines around the face without the “frozen” look that people fear.

Breast implants are harmful

Fact: Both silicone and saline breast implants are approved by FDA for use in humans. This means that clinical studies were conducted studying the safety of these implants, and the results showed that they are perfectly safe. There may be minor side-effects such as leaking, but those are not harmful to the body and can be rectified.

You cannot breast feed if you have implants

Fact: Not true again! You can safely breastfeed even if you have implants. Your surgeon and doctor will recommend that you breastfeed if you can since breast milk is the best form of nutrition for your child. It is true that sometimes very little silicone can mix in the breast milk but that is not harmful to your child.

Breast implants increase the risk of breast cancer

Fact: There is not truth in this one. Breast implants have been around for tens of years, and there is no indication that there is any link between breast cancer and breast implants. A regular checkup of your breasts is recommended as usual, but there is nothing extra that needs to be done.

Liposuction is an easy way to lose weight

Fact: Liposuction is body contouring to remove fat cells from your body. It does not lead to automatic weight loss. An active lifestyle and good eating habits are essential to lose weight. Since liposuction removes fat cells from problem areas, even if you do gain weight after liposuction, your problem areas will gain even weight in comparison to the rest of your body.

Cosmetic surgery is too risky

Fact: Not really. There is a risk of complication with cosmetic surgery as with every surgery, but there is no exaggerated risk with cosmetic surgery. With the choice of right surgeon and right hospitals, the risk can be mitigated and controlled.

You will have ugly scars after cosmetic surgery

Fact: This is yet another one that was true maybe earlier but not so much now. Now scars are hidden in places not readily visible. For example, for breast implants, you may have scars in your armpit. For facelifts, your scars can be hidden along your hairline or behind contours
